Best Time to Visit Jemaa el-Fna (Time of Day & Season)

The best time to visit Jemaa el-Fna is the late afternoon into the evening: arrive around 5–6pm to watch the square transform, stay for sunset, then eat at the food stalls after dark. For weather, spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) are ideal.

Best time of day

By day the square is calmer — good for orange juice, photos and the surrounding souks. From dusk it comes alive with Gnaoua musicians, storytellers and dozens of food stalls. Read more about the square at night.

Best season

Spring and autumn bring warm days and mild evenings. Summer (June–August) is very hot at midday; visit early or after sunset. Winter evenings are cool — bring a layer.

Make the most of it

A guided street food tour or medina walk is the easiest way to enjoy the square. Plan everything with our Jemaa el-Fna guide.
