The Majorelle Garden (Jardin Majorelle) is a botanical garden created in the 1920s–30s by the French painter Jacques Majorelle, and rescued in 1980 by Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé. Its cobalt-blue villa — the shade now known as “Majorelle blue” — sits among cacti, bamboo and lily ponds. It is one of the most visited sites in Morocco.
Where is the Majorelle Garden and how to get there
In Gueliz, the new town, about 2.5 km north-west of Jemaa el-Fna — a 10-minute petit-taxi ride. The Yves Saint Laurent Museum is right next door.
Opening hours and entrance fee
Open daily, generally 8:00–18:00. As of 2025 the garden ticket is about 170 MAD (roughly €16); the on-site Berber Museum and the neighbouring YSL Museum are separate tickets. Booking online in advance is strongly recommended — queues are long. Entrance fees for Marrakech’s monuments are set by Morocco’s Ministry of Culture and reviewed from time to time, so treat any figure as a guide. The current price is posted at the ticket office, tickets are bought on site (bring cash in dirhams — cards are rarely accepted), and children usually pay a reduced rate.
