Make your own Moroccan pottery
Pottery is one of Marrakech’s oldest crafts, and this workshop puts you at the wheel to try it yourself. Under the eye of a master potter you learn the two core techniques — throwing on the traditional kick-wheel and casting — and shape your own piece.
What you will do
- Throwing on the wheel — centre the clay and pull up a bowl or cup by hand.
- Casting & shaping — the second technique behind much of Morocco’s tableware.
- Finishing — learn how pieces are trimmed, dried and glazed in the local style.
Good to know
The session is hands-on and suitable for complete beginners, including families — clay is forgiving and the potter guides every step. Wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little dusty. It is a calm, creative break from the bustle of the souks.
