The Saadian Tombs are a 16th-century royal necropolis in the Kasbah district, built under Sultan Ahmad al-Mansur. Sealed for centuries and rediscovered in 1917, they are a jewel of Moroccan craftsmanship.
Where are the Saadian Tombs and how to get there
In the south of the medina, next to the Kasbah Mosque, reached through a narrow passageway. A 15–20 minute walk south from Jemaa el-Fna, easily combined with El Badi and Bahia.
Opening hours and entrance fee
Open daily, generally 9:00–17:00. As of 2025 the fee is about 100 MAD (roughly €10) per adult. Entrance fees for Marrakech’s monuments are set by Morocco’s Ministry of Culture and reviewed from time to time, so treat any figure as a guide. The current price is posted at the ticket office, tickets are bought on site (bring cash in dirhams — cards are rarely accepted), and children usually pay a reduced rate.
What to see at the Saadian Tombs
- The Hall of Twelve Columns — al-Mansur’s mausoleum, with Carrara marble and a muqarnas ceiling.

- The garden graves — over a hundred tombs among the roses.
