The Maison de la Photographie is a museum of vintage Moroccan photography, set in a beautifully restored fondouk (merchants’ inn) in the northern medina. Its collection of prints, glass plates and early film documents Morocco from the 1870s to the 1960s, and its rooftop café has one of the best terrace views in the old town.
Where is the Maison de la Photographie and how to get there
In the northern medina, a couple of minutes from the Ben Youssef Madrasa. About a 12–15 minute walk north from Jemaa el-Fna.
Opening hours and entrance fee
Open daily, generally 9:30–19:00. As of 2025 the fee is about 50 MAD (roughly €5), which includes the rooftop terrace. Entrance fees for Marrakech’s monuments are set by Morocco’s Ministry of Culture and reviewed from time to time, so treat any figure as a guide. The current price is posted at the ticket office, tickets are bought on site (bring cash in dirhams — cards are rarely accepted), and children usually pay a reduced rate.
